About us.
Our proprietor Neil Spencer has a wealth of experience in the automotive upholstery trade having been born into a family of upholsters. After leaving school, Neil joined the British Army and served as an infantry soldier, but unfortunately his career was cut short due to being wounded by a suicide truck bomb and he was medically discharged.
He then spent the next 11 years working at Leisuretrim in Ponthir. An automotive upholstery business established in 1990 by his late father who was a well respected car upholster with almost 40 years of experience.
With the death of his father and the closure of the business, Neil then spent the next 9 years working as a drayman delivering the beer kegs, but he realised his real passion was back in the trimming world, and in 2024 he took the gamble by resigning from his permanent drayman job to establish hoods and stitches.
As a veteran owned business. A 20% discount is available on custom made motorbike seat covers for serving and veterans with a MOD 90 or veterans card.
Neil is also the author of A troubled mind: A journey through trauma and resilience.
Published in 2023, books can be purchased from Amazon or from the Hoods and stitches workshop.
