About us.
Our proprietor Neil Spencer has a wealth of experience in the automotive upholstery trade. After leaving school, Neil initially worked for an upholstery manufacturing company, but left to pursue a career in the British Army. After passing infantry recruit training, he served as a member of the 1st battalion, the Royal Welch Fusiliers. Unfortunately, just 2 years into his career, he was blown up by a suicide truck bomb while serving in Iraq and medically discharged.
He then spent the next 11 years working at Leisuretrim in Ponthir. An automotive upholstery business established in 1990 by his late father who was a well respected car upholster with almost 40 years of experience. Neil left the upholstery trade and spent the next 10 years working as a drayman delivering the beer kegs, but soon realised his real passion was back in the trimming world. February 2024 he took the gamble by resigning from his permanent drayman job to establish hoods and stitches and carry on in his father's footsteps.
As a veteran owned business. A 20% discount is available on custom made motorbike seat covers for serving and veterans with a MOD 90 or veterans card.
Neil is also the author of A troubled mind: A journey through trauma and resilience.
Published in 2023, books can be purchased from Amazon or from the Hoods and stitches workshop.
